Steve Lendholm, RN, Surgery
I've been a nurse for sixteen years, an Operating Room Nurse for thirteen years and a Charge Nurse for five years. I'm kind of like a traffic cop in that I orchestrate the flow between departments. In other words, I make the daily Operating room assignments for nurses and scrub technicians; I talk to the Emergency Department, the Operating Room, the Surgical Surge Unit and the Post-anesthesia care unit. I look for problems and find solutions. It's a lot of responsibility, so the mood you set is important. I try to bring a happy attitude to my job; it keeps the patients calm, because when you're calm, they know everything is going to be just fine.
