My philosophy of care is to treat each patient with compassion and respect. I start each treatment plan with the NCCN national treatment guidelines and then individualize the treatment based upon the patient's individual needs and preferences. I allow extra time to print out copies of the patient's CT and MRI scans so that they can by reviewed during the family conference. I place a high priority in answering all of the patient's and family member's questions.
I am involved in a charitable organization called Athletes for Cancer. It raises money to send young adults with cancer to Maui for a therapeutic camp that helps them heal from the emotional trauma of cancer treatment by teaching them to surf. At the Maui camp I have served as the camp doctor and surf instructor.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, abalone diving, windsurfing, kiteboarding and surfing with my family.
