  • Biography

Dr. Andrea French was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Science from Colorado State University, and a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology from San Jose State University. After receiving her Master’s degree, she moved to Valhalla, New York where she graduated with an MD from New York Medical College in 2003. She began her General Surgery residency at University of California, San Francisco/Fresno in 2003 and completed it at Abington Memorial Hospital Philadelphia in 2008. Although interested in all aspects of general surgery, she found most enjoyment in laparoscopic general surgery. In 2009 she completed an additional year of training as a Minimally Invasive Surgery/Bariatric Surgery Fellow at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland and Berkeley.

Dr. French is Board Certified in General Surgery and has been a Fellow in the American College of Surgery since 2010. She practiced as a general surgeon and wound specialist in the Bay Area from 2009 – 2014 prior to moving to Fortuna to find a better work/life balance. In addition to her general surgery practice in the Bay Area, she worked as a Healogics ™ certified wound and hyperbaric medicine specialist in a Healogics™ wound clinic. Although her practice includes the broad spectrum of general surgery including, but not limited to gallbladder disease, endocrine disease, hernias and breast surgery, she has a special focus in the minimally invasive surgery for colon cancer and benign colorectal disease. Dr. French’s experience also extends to minimally invasive solid organ surgery such as laparoscopic adrenalectomies and splenectomies and minimally invasive anti-gastroesophageal reflux procedures. In addition, she has extended her practice to include diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic intervention such as colonoscopies and endoscopies. Her surgical practice centers around a patient focused experience and she strives to ensure each patient is truly supported during their whole surgical journey.
