Administration May Hong, MD, Program Director May Hong received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch. Dr. Hong did her residency at Austin Medical Education Program in Austin, Texas. May has worked as a primary care physician in Texas and New York. May currently works at Redwood Community Health Center. In her spare time, she plays the piano and cello. William Parks, MD Designated Institutional Official Dr. Parks attended medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. Bill practiced pediatrics for over 20 years in The Woodlands, Texas. Bill served as Chief Medical Officer for 10 years at Memorial Hermann – The Woodlands Hospital. Dr. Parks and his wife Debbie moved to Humboldt in 2015, where Bill serves as the Chief Medical Officer for St Joseph Health, Humboldt and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the FM Residency Program. Bill is an avid gardener and enjoys growing orchids and hiking to see the tallest redwoods. Jack Allen Program Coordinator Jack Allen moved to Humboldt County in 2013 and completed his Masters Degree in research at Humboldt State University. Jack enjoys spending time with his family in the Humboldt redwoods and at the local beaches. He also enjoys teaching, cooking, and taking his dogs to Hiller Park in McKinleyville. Faculty Kelvin Vu, DO Kelvin Vu received his medical degree from Western University and completed his residency training in Family Medicine at University of California Davis Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident in his last year. In his free time, Kelvin enjoys traveling the world with his wife and two sons, watching movies, and playing sports. Katherine “Kate” Estlin, MD A Humboldt native Dr. Estlin earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Southern California and completed her Family Medicine residency at Group Health Seattle, before returning home to practice medicine in Fortuna. Kate lives with her husband and three children in Hydesville. Willard "Bill" Hunter, MD Dr. Hunter attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles and completed his Family Medicine residency at University of California, Davis. Bill served as medical director of Redwoods Rural Health Center in Redway for 20 years, before becoming Open Door’s Chief Medical Officer. Bill is known for his energy, passion and his beautiful singing voice. Courtney Ladika, MD Dr. Ladika attended Wake Forest School of Medicine and completed residency at McKay Dee Family Medicine Residency, in Utah, where she served as Chief Resident. Courtney works at Redwood Community Health Center. She lives in Eureka, where she enjoys running through the redwoods forests, biking along the coast, and swimming in the lagoons. She also enjoys backpacking in the Trinity Alps.
