Redwood Memorial Hospital Kicks-Off 60th Anniversary
Eureka, CA (March 2, 2017) – Redwood Memorial Hospital is kicking-off its 60th anniversary on Friday, March 17, 2017 with a public celebration from 1:30
to 2:30 p.m. at 3300 Renner Drive in Fortuna.
The free event will include remarks by hospital officials, a proclamation
read by the City of Fortuna, birthday cake, and other festivities. The
public is invted to attend, with a special invitation extended to those
born at the hospital in 1957.
“We’re excited to be able to share this special occasion with
the community, and especially the city and people of Fortuna, who have
been so supportive of Redwood Memorial throughout the years,” said
Laurie Watson-Stone, Vice President, Redwood Memorial Hospital Operations
& Patient Experience. “We’re grateful to be able to provide
the Eel River Valley with high quality health care close to home.”
In 1957, Redwood Memorial opened its doors under the sponsorship of the
Sisters of St. Joseph as a 27-bed hospital serving the Eel River Valley.
Over the years, support from the people of Fortuna has allowed the hospital
to expand its services and purchase equipment to meet the community’s
growing and changing healthcare needs.
Today, Redwood Memorial is a 25-bed critical access hospital offering sophisticated
medical surgical care, access to highly skilled specialists, and a family-centered
maternity program, among other services. Redwood Memorial is also a recognized
leader in holistic, patient-centered care, recently being named one of
Becker Hospital Review’s “16 Hospitals with Great Customer Service.”
In addition to the March 17 kick-off, members of the public are invited
to participate in other anniversary events throughout the year, including
the hospital’s annual benefit ball November 4, which will be themed
“diamond jubilee” to recognize the hospital’s 60th anniversary. For event information, and more about Redwood Memorial, visit
