Foundation helps secure new beds for Redwood Memorial Hospital

Fortuna (Aug. 28, 2014) – Patients at Redwood Memorial Hospital (RMH) are now a bit more comfortable thanks to the arrival of new beds. The 25-bed hospital was able to purchase the beds thanks in part to a donation from the Redwood Memorial Foundation, which covered half of the cost.

Six beds in the labor and postpartum wing were replaced as well as 16 beds in the Medical-Surgical Unit and four in the Intensive Care Unit. "Supporting this project was a no-brainer for the foundation board," said Board President Becky Giacomini. "The more we can do to make patients more comfortable during their stay at the hospital, the better."

The new beds will enable patients at Redwood Memorial Hospital to be more comfortable while they are hospitalized. "As care providers, there are things we can do to give patients a better hospital experience," Garrison said. "Having state-of-the-art beds enables us to provide higher quality care. The support of the community in ensuring Redwood maintains its high quality service is greatly appreciated."According to RMH Director of Nursing Laurie Garrison, the beds will have a significant impact on the overall patient experience at the hospital. "Redwood Memorial Hospital was blessed with receiving new patient beds in all of our inpatient departments with the support of funds from the Redwood Memorial Foundation. These beds are state-of-the-art with features that not only optimize patient comfort but support patient safety, patient mobilization, and skin care."

The Redwood Memorial Hospital Foundation dedicates its funds from generous community donors to priority capital needs, core programs, health education, scholarships and new program support for Redwood Memorial Hospital.
