Eureka (April 24, 2013) – St. Joseph Health – Humboldt County (SJH-HC) and Kohl's Department Store, through the Kohl's Safety for Kids program, are teaming up this spring to promote bike safety. The first of three bike rodeos will be held on Friday, May 3 from 3 to 5 pm at Trinity Valley Elementary School in Willow Creek. Two other rodeos will be held – one on May 18 and another on June 1.
The bike rodeo, a free event for the whole community, will feature helmet inspections and giveaways, a bicycle safety check, rules of the road and a snack. The rodeos are made possible through a grant from Kohl's for bicycle safety education. The goal is to empower young cyclists through education and awareness of safe on-road biking, which will help reduce childhood injuries caused by bicycle
accidents. The rodeos are coordinated through our Community Resource Centers, which are non-profit community outreach services sponsored by SJH-HC.
