A hole-in-one for St. Joseph Hospital

Arcata (June 26, 2013) – St. Joseph Hospital recently scored a hole-in-one at its largest fundraiser of the year, with guests and golfers raising more than $105,000 for the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation. All proceeds from the events, which were held June 20 and 21 at Baywood Golf & Country Club, will go toward the purchase of a new linear accelerator for the Cancer Program at St. Joseph Hospital.

Now in its ninth year, the two-day event features a Thursday night dinner and auction followed by a day-long golf tournament on Friday. This year, the events featured a "Triple Crown" theme, including race-themed dinner and drinks at the Dinner Classic, as well as fun contests and prize opportunities at the golf tournament.

"Supporting the hospital through the foundation allows me to be involved with our community's health care. Doing so assists the hospital in maintaining and enhancing critical programs for patients, while also ensuring St. Joseph Health's commitment to providing high-quality health care for the North Coast for years to come." ~ Ken Musante, Golf Committee Chair

The winning team for the golf tournament was Humboldt Moving & Storage consisting of Monte Henry, Ryan Nilson, Garrett Sehon and Josh Sehon followed closely by the second place team, Shafer's Ace Hardware, including Gary Barker, Jack Rieke, Dave Stone and Steve Strombeck. The Sodexo team – Tom Richards, Davey Stone, Derek Stone and Chris Watson – took home third place.

Larry DeBeni won the putting contest and the tournament long drive champions were Shay

McClure and Karen Griffith. Jerry King won the closest-to-the-hole competition.
