Advocacy
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change
the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
Justice -- one of the four core values of St. Joseph Hospital-- calls us to advocate for systems and structures that are attuned to
the needs of the vulnerable and disadvantaged and that provide a sense
of community among all persons. St. Joseph Hospital believes one of the
ways we can best improve the health of people living within our communities
is to advocate for them. This is a key way in which we can all contribute
to our mission to improve the health and quality of life for people in
our communities.
2015 Advocacy Priorities include:
- Access to Care: Enhance and Protect the Safety Net
- Mental Health/Substance Abuse
- Catholic Identity/Conscience Protection
- Protect Operational Stability and Fiscal Solvency of local ministries
Decisions in Sacramento or Washington DC can greatly affect the delivery
of hospital services. We greatly encourage participation at the grassroots level.
